THE OUTLAW

ADIOS AMIGOS ….

This has got to be, on a personal level, one of the most difficult posts that I have ever had to publish on the Outlaw.

Regular readers will be only too familiar with a gentleman, and a good friend of mine, who has since 2014, been a regular and very much appreciated commentator on this site, and known to all as simply …. ‘Old Git’.

For the last few weeks, I have been acutely aware that OG has been stoically battling, what has now sadly turned out to be a terminal condition, and one which has affected more decent and good people that I care to remember.

He has borne this terrible condition with supreme dignity, has never complained (to me anyway), and as far as I am aware, has been able to accept and has made provision for what now appears to be, the inevitable outcome.

He has also, even managed to put aside the time, and indeed found the strength, to put together something of how he wishes to be remembered by the readers of the Outlaw, and as per his instructions …. his last words to the readers of the Outlaw are published below.

Cysgu yn dda fy ffriend

SING ALONG WITH ME!

“Adios amigos,adios my friends,
The road we have traveled will come to an end,
My only problem is Old Git don’t know when,
When your cancer’s incurable, you look at the docs,
Strange looks on their faces like they know some truth,”

So that’s it in a nutshell.

I haven’t got long to live but I don’t know how long.

Walking now makes me short of breath, taking lots of deep breaths to “recover”.

I’d like to say how much I’ve enjoyed posting here, especially on the few occasions that I’ve been on topic.

How long is it now?

Since 2014 at least, J.J. will know.

I hope I’ve helped expand Outlaws library & given you all many different sites to look at.

Really all I can do.

I don’t know if someone else will come along to carry on the work.

Old Git

Very sorry & sad to hear this OG.

As well as the vast library of info you have kindly shared with us all, (which is safely stored here & that no doubt we will all look back on & recheck from time to time), you have given us lots of laughs, especially about ‘the dark place’ and it’s strange inhabitants, for which we are all grateful.

It’s hard to know what to say, as I’m sure you understand, but I wish you peace in whatever time you have left, you will forever be an honorary ‘Outlaw’ & we will miss you & you will be fondly remembered by many visitors to this site.

The best of wishes to you & your family. Thank you for sharing all your huge info gathering efforts, knowledge, thoughts and time with us.

    Farewell our friend, God bless.

Hey Jimmy have you any comment about Sonia Poulton teaming up with UK Column, Bill Maloney, @CalamaTCat, @CathyCathyFox, @Sunnyclaribel. @bobchewy, and the Hollie Greig justice nutters?

    • This is neither the time or the place …. and I am damned if I am going to let you hijack this post in an attempt to get an audience, or a bigger platform for your puerile internet vendetta’s.

    • Gerald Ratners Blog, I hope this comment falls below Jimmy’s.

Respect that Jimmy has marked this post private, clearly he and others here are deeply affected by this news of a very dear friend.

I wouldn’t call the campaign puerile, because I’m highlighting their current dastardly deeds.

But even so, it’s not fair to bust in and just bang your drum, especially as people here are very aware of that stuff.

Old Git tho, never seemed much interested, I might be wrong, cos as I say in a later comment, I’m on point with a purpose mostly, only viewed a few of his posts.

It ain’t the right time or place and you could have posted that on the other posts that are on the subject, but maybe not today, eh?

You may remember I posted a few weeks ago asking where he was and that he was missed. Now I know…… I’m gutted. Hang on in there Old Git and enjoy the time left with your family and friends. Your comments and links on this site have been much appreciated and have been very helpful to me in my quest to work out What’s It All About? Sounds like you’ll have all the answers soon enough. God bless and best wishes from another old curmudgeon.

So sad to hear this OG. At times you have been an exasperation but always you have been an inspiration.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Take care O.G., and thank you. I don’t know how you found some of the links you posted over the years, but they were very interesting…and I was always amused at their off topic nature 🙂

  • OG Rest comfortably in the knowledge that you will be remembered well.

Your legacy will carry forward. (and I have to be honest and say that I often resisted your links), because I was focused & they were for me, too distracting, time consuming, at the time.

So I am grateful that along the highway, online you met with Jimmy & his good friends that comment here, much more than I ever did….

So that over time, I can visit the vast library that will be kept to live on and share with others into the future.

That’s quite an achievement and I always loved seeing your avatar….

Old Git always put a smile on my face, as I skimmed through and gave you a sort of nod, and said not now, not yet, no time, but there may be time later.

For now be and do whatever you feel like, in whatever way possible and really soak in the love that is so obviously given and deserved by you.

Old Git – we have never met, spoke or even communicated yet I feel you are like a friend.

Truly saddened to read about your illness but what a honourable way to remember you.

    God bless OG XX

So, so sorry to hear this news. I must admit I used to curse OG because whenever I started following some of the links he posted here, I would end up reading stuff I really had no idea existed and before I knew it, half the night had gone. Which is a good thing but got me in no end of rows with the other half. But that’s another story. All I can say is that you OG will be greatly missed and it hadn’t been for you, and people like you (and for Jimmy giving you the floor of course) then I would not know nearly half the stuff that swirls around my brain constantly. So I thank you and will mourn your passing. I am also sure that I will not be alone in wishing you an easy journey and God speed. Adios OG ……… you are one in a million.

    For OG

‘May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
    May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand’.

This is sad news, I am very new here & have just been reading a few of your posts. It appears you are held in high esteem by the other contributors…so if it is true that you are judged by the company you keep, you must be a fine person.
I wish you strength to deal with what lies ahead.
