According to the CDC Website:
‘ZIKA virus is spread to people though mosquito bites. The most common symptoms of ZIKA virus disease are fever, rash, joint pain and conjunctivitis (red eyes). The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting from several days to a week. Severe disease requiring hospitalisation is uncommon. No vaccine or medications are available to prevent or treat ZIKA infections’.
According to the GUARDIAN :
‘The ZIKA virus outbreak in Latin America could be a bigger threat to global health than the Ebola epidemic that killed more than 11,000 people in Africa.’
The Guardian’s claim came ahead of an emergency meaning of the W.H.O. Scheduled for Monday (today), which will decide whether the ZIKA threat – which has been linked in many cases to a sharp rise in cases of foetal deformation called Microcephaly – should be rated a global health crisis.
Which sounds pretty serious don’t you think?
If a little dramatic.
A virus causing abnormalities in children, and one which has no vaccine or medicine to prevent or treat either the symptoms or the complications, and as yet, is spreading at a rate which cannot even be checked as those infected are believed to be asymptomatic.
I have selected the two items above from the hundreds that are currently available online, and of course are being pumped throughout the mass media outlets, as they are the easiest for anyone to source, and will give the reader some idea of the type of conflicting stories that are available should one decide to look beyond what is currently being reported.
Take it from me, some of what is being reported out there is truly terrifying, and I do not know of one parent-to-be who would not be concerned to a degree, and would also be desperate to find out as much as they can – about how a virus, dubbed ‘The Shrunken Head Disease’ and ‘The Pinhead Virus’ by some media outlets, is going to affect them and their families.
And if this virus is as virulent as they say it is, and can circulate unchecked, and shows no visible symptoms as well as cause the type of physical abnormalities that are being graphically illustrated by the mass media …. why is it, that anybody with $599 (£416.15 €550.30) can purchase it freeze-dried online?
Or is that not a fair question to ask?
