HOW MANY REALLY KNEW?….

This morning, my attention was drawn to a short Twitter exchange that appeared on my timeline.

The Conservative ex-Junior Health Minister, Edwina Currie, was asked a question which referred, (I assume) to the recent revelations that it may soon become a legal requirement to report any instances of Child Abuse.

Ms Currie was then asked “Wouldn’t the paedophile MP Peter Morrison had been convicted if you and other MP’s had reported him as a Noted Pedarist.”

To which Ms Currie replied “But you need evidence. dates, times, places, names. I had none, nothing. But that’s the label he carried.”

I then asked her “That did not prevent you from using the very same ‘unproven’ information to promote your book, eh Edwina?”

I received no response, at the time of writing.

I felt that question was justified as on the 25th November 2012, David Icke published a widely reproduced extract from Edwina Currie’s Diaries 1987-1992 on his website, in which she outed Peter Morrison as a ‘noted pederast’:

DAVID ICKE HEADLINES 25th November 2012

Reproductions of the same quote can only be found online, on various forums and blogs, so I needed a definitive version.

Copies of Edwina Currie’s Diaries 1987-1992 can easily be sourced online, I did a quick search on both Amazon and eBay and found copies available from £0.01 and up to £11.01 for the hardback edition.

On page 195 of the hardback edition, it reads, verbatim:

“One appointment in the recent reshuffle has attracted a lot of gossip and could be very dangerous: Peter Morrison has become the PM’s PPS. Now he’s what they call a ‘noted pederast’, with a liking for young boys; he admitted as much to Norman Tebbit when he became deputy chairman of the party but added’ ‘However, I’m very discreet’ – and he must be! She either knows and is taking a chance, or doesn’t; either way, it’s a really dumb move. Teresa Gorman told me this evening (in a taxi coming back from a drinks party at the BBC) that she inherited Morrison’s (woman) agent, who claimed to have been offered money to keep quiet about his activities. It scares, me as all the press know, and as we get closer to the election someone is going to make trouble, very close to her indeed.”

So where did David Icke get his much-repeated quote from?

I ask this as the entry above clearly shows far more explosive revelations.

Namely, Norman Tebbit is named as having been told by Peter Morrison himself that he was a pederast.

Teresa Gorman is named as also being privy to this information.

Morrison’s agent was also alleged to have been paid to keep quiet about his activities.

The diaries were published in 2002 so why has none of this ever surfaced in the media?

Also, if the diaries had been readily available for at least ten years, why would David Icke not bring attention to what was clearly a far more damning revelation on his website in 2012?

It’s not as if it was covered up, or hidden from view, the book had been out there for a decade and a cursory read would have given even the laziest researcher far more.

It should also be noted that Peter Morrison was named by more than one person who identified him as being a visitor at various care homes in North Wales.

Rod Richards, a former Conservative MP and ex-leader of the Welsh Tories, who made the shocking allegation that he had seen evidence linking Sir Peter Morrison to the North Wales children’s homes case, in which up to 650 children in 40 homes were sexually, physically and emotionally abused over 20 years.

So if all these people were privy to this ‘open secret,’ why was nothing done at the time?

  1. I think Icke had read the article in the Sunday Times dated 21st October 2012. And, er, based his “article” on it, without bothering to do the slightest bit of research himself. Why bother when you can cut & paste (including parentheses not apparent in the printed version)?

Should we really have expected anything more from David “15 Years Of Silence” Icke? The Savile forum are celebrating 10 million hits (how much are they worth to Icke?) seemingly oblivious to the Icke-shaped elephant in the room: he claims to have known about Savile but did absolutely nothing to bring it to anyone’s attention. Incredible.

    Anyway, a great write-up, Jimmy.

“Thatcher aide ‘had sex with underage boys’

    By Nicholas Hellen

EDWINA CURRIE, the former Conservative minister, has claimed that a leading Tory MP during Margaret Thatcher’s era had sex with underage boys – and that senior party members covered up for him.

Currie, 66, said this weekend that she had heard that Sir Peter Morrison, Thatcher’s parliamentary private secretary and deputy chairman of the party, had sex with 16-year-old boys when the age of consent was 21. “Was he doing anything illegal? Almost certainly. Would it be illegal today? Hard to tell now the age of consent is down to 16,” she said.

Morrison was in charge of Thatcher’s disastrous leadership campaign team in 1990 when she lost power. He died aged 51 in 1995.

She said Morrison was protected by a “culture of sniggering, of giggling and of nudge-nudge, wink-wink” as well as by the difficulties of getting cases to court at that time. Currie first aired the claims in an autobiography published in 2002, writing: “One appointment in the recent reshuffle has attracted a lot of gossip and could be very dangerous: Peter Morrison has become the PM’s PPS.

“Now he’s what they call ‘a noted pederast’, with a liking for young boys; he admitted as much … when he became deputy chairman of the party but added, ‘However, I’m very discreet’ – and he must be!

“She [Thatcher] either knows and is taking a chance, or doesn’t; either way, it’s a really dumb move.

“It scares me, as all the press know, and as we get closer to the election someone is going to make trouble, very close to her indeed.”

Asked to compare the party’s reaction to Morrison with the way in which the BBC and health authorities dealt with rumours about Sir Jimmy Savile, Currie said: “People like Savile could continue so long [because] anybody who objected was seen as prudish, too upright for their own good, messing up other people’s fun.

“If you add to the fact that it was very difficult to bring court cases and that many of these people were bullies, you had to be very strong-minded to stand up to that.

“The style of the time in the 1960s, 1970s and coming into the 1980s was that there would be moral disapproval but that it would be very difficult to get criminal charges because witnesses would not be protected,” Currie said.

“Even if Morrison was behaving in a criminal fashion getting cases to court would have been very difficult particularly if the young witnesses – one might be talking about a 17-year-old – did not want to give evidence. It was before the days of DNA.

“Unless somebody actually made a complaint to the police, perhaps involving violence, the chance of getting a criminal conviction would be very slim.” Currie said Morrison was careful to conduct his activities in private and dismissed gossip that he would go searching for sexual encounters in the streets of west London.

“I heard he would take them to his hunting lodge in Scotland and they would have a whale of a time. I think that’s what he meant to be discreet.

“The suggestion that he was protected as an MP is simply not so. People were charged and ended up in court and in jail particularly in the 1950s and 1960s.”

Currie pointed out that the Labour MP Tom Driberg, who became Lord Bradwell in 1975, was a particularly notorious sexual predator – and apparently even made advances to James Callaghan, who served as prime minister from 1976-9.”

  2. Apart from the obvious, the thing I find really disgusting is the fact that Currie seems more worried about the detrimental effect on the Conservative party should Morrison’s tastes become common knowledge outside Parliament than the plight of the children!

What sort of mother is she ?

    1. Not a caring one, that’s for certain….

  3. She writes about children being raped as if it’s some sort of an indiscretion. She’s another one who will do anything for the filthy lucre. Great article Jimmy, once again 🙂

  4. I’ve just been having a discussion with a Moderator on the Icke-forum, and it has been pointed out to me that DI has, indeed, used the full more incriminating quotes in his work.
Although in November 2012 the name ‘Norman Tebbit’ was edited from the quotes, in December of the same year it was included in his articles.

As I said to the Moderator, the earlier version will probably have done the rounds of the AM before the later version appeared – such is the ‘power of the internet’.

In the interests of fairness, I include below a link to the December 2012 article from Icke:
